Capostrano - the singing pizza baker!

Italian Luca Capostrano is finally ready to have his lifelong dream fulfilled, and as so often, it is thanks to all the opportunities that came into place at the right moment. Luca grew up in Milan in the early 1980s and as a teenager began working as a washboy at the pizza restaurant he would later call his own - Pizza Capostrano. On the other side of the street was one of the studios where the classic italo disco was recorded and spread across Europe. Luca could hear the faint thumping and fragment of the beautiful tunes and he saw the now legendary italo disco stars meet in the studio entrance.

The years went by and when Luca took over the restaurant and was given the opportunity to deliver to the studio on the other side of street, the rumor of the italo disco-interested baker spread quickly and soon he became a ”court supplier” to all the well-known studios around town. What no one knew was how much Luca wanted to be the one standing in front of the microphone in the studio across the street. He sang all the time while baking his pizzas and after closing time he lay on the chamber and wrote his own songs, with a constant dream of sometime getting the chance.

The years went by and Luca left his business in Milan to experience Europe. On one of his trips he met Swedish Håkan Hultberg, an acquaintance which would lead to unexpected opportunities much later. Håkan says: “I met Capostrano when I went by interrail in 1990. I met him in Brindisi on my way to Corfu. We arrived already at 06:00 in the morning and the boat did not leave until 20:00 in the evening. I had breakfast with him and a coffee later in the day. We kept in touch for several years through regular letters. Luca told me his incredible stories about his life and experiences around Europe and the dreams of recording his own kind of the music he heard through the walls during his days as a pizza baker ... ”

The year is 2019 and the two friends had, as so often happens, lost contact over the years, when they unexpectedly bump into each other in an italo disco group on Facebook. They resume contact and decide to finally make things happen. Luca revealed that he had written a song about what had happened to him a few years earlier when his girlfriend’s proposal resulted in him, as so many times before in his life, took his stuff and ran ...

Håkan took on the song and together they now created the irresistible ”Running For My Life”, perfect for both dancefloor and beach party.
